Airport Shuttle Info

The Melody Fairchild Girls Running Camp has arranged for an airport shuttle to help facilitate transportation to and from the airport for out  of state campers.  The cost is $75 which includes transportation to and from the airport as well as any meals, supervision, and extra nights stayed on the Hydrangea Ranch.  This is an add-on cost that can be paid during the registration process at CampDoc.org.

Before making final plans to attend the Melody Fairchild Girls Running Camp, check out which flights are available to Portland, Oregon (airport code PDX).  First choice arrival times are between 9-11 a.m. on Sunday morning.  Second choice arrival times are between 3-5 p.m. on Saturday evening.  Optimum departure times are Friday after 1 p.m.  It also works to depart on Saturday morning, but after a long week of camp, we would much prefer Friday.  For arrival and departure times outside of these hours, please call camp host Patrick Zweifel on his cell phone at 503.812.9190 or e-mail him at pat@ultimookrunningcamp.com to be sure those times will work–we will find a way to get your athlete to camp.

At the airport, there will be a meeting area established to meet with a member of camp staff and other campers.  Wait time will be determined by flight times by the entire group–not just your flight.  We are unable to meet athletes at the gate as they are arriving, but only at this centrally located meeting place at the airport on this side of security.  Last year we met at Panda Express which is easy to find and centrally located on this side of security.  Final meeting place will be clearly established the week prior to camp and you will be notified within a few days prior to camp with final meeting place details.

To sign up for the shuttle, please select “airport shuttle” as an add-on expense during registration.  Also, fill out this AIRPORT SHUTTLE SIGN-UP FORM or use the form on the right to give us all the information we need to communicate to you prior to arriving as well as communicate with you the day of arrival at PDX.   You will receive an automatic confirmation that you filled out this form, but you will also receive a personal e-mail within a few days from camp host, Patrick Zweifel.  If you do not receive this personalized e-mail, do not assume that we got your sign-up.  Please after three days, verify with the Melody Fairchild Girls Running Camp that we did in fact receive this shuttle sign-up form and that we are expecting you at the airport.

Please e-mail me at pat@ultimookrunningcamp.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding this shuttle.  Your parents are free to talk to me in person on my cell phone at 503.812.9190 or at the camp main office at 503.815.3762.

Week 1, July 5 to July 10

Girls camp, ages 12-18, will be treated to a one-of-a-kind running immersion experience. Each camper discovers her own true north, through guided writing, meditation and breathing exercises. We strengthen our running will and hone our grit muscle with challenging team and individual training runs. We learn how to support the running journey through talks from experts on nutrition and sports psychology. This camp speaks to the wise-woman within, who wants to pause and take notice of the energy around and within her, to inform her next step on the journey.

Week 2 & 3, July 26 to Aug. 1 & Aug. 2 to Aug. 8

Co-ed camps, ages 12-18.  Featuring two weeks of original Ultimook camps.  The Ultimook’s mission is to develop long distance runners in both mind and body.  We offer a REAL cross country experience with a unique mixture of beautiful runs, great training, knowledgeable speakers, and team building challenges called the Sasquatch Games. Each day will bring a different type/variety of training runs, races, and challenges in a variety of terrains—sand, hills, trails, cross country, etc.  with a heavy emphasis on developing character, leadership, and teamwork.
